Semester Program Fees

The following program fees reflect the amounts required to show before immigration documentation can be issued.

Exchange Students

Tuition and application fees are waived for Exchange Students who were nominated by an MSU exchange partner institution and have been accepted to the program. North America may, in many cases, be a rather expensive place to study abroad. Living expenses, insurance costs, and travel expenses, may be higher than many other places or destinations around the globe.

In addition, there may be administrative fees at the university, that you will be required to cover. If you are concerned about your financial situation, please set up an appointment with your home university office to discuss your options in further detail.

Direct Enroll/Inbound Study Abroad Students

Direct Enroll/Inbound Study Abroad students will pay all fees associated with the semester they intend to study at Michigan State University including a non-refundable application fee.

For all Exchange & Direct Enroll/Inbound Study Abroad students

Additional fees may include, application fee, shipment cost for a student’s acceptance packet and visa paperwork, lab fees for certain courses, additional courses above those stated in the institutional exchange agreement or minimum required course load per F-1 and J-1 regulations, international student health insurance, room, board, ASP&E sponsored activities, F-1 or J-1 visa fees, books, and personal expenses.
