Michigan State recommends students live on campus. Visit the LiveOn website to see more information about where you may live during your time as a Spartan! Please note on campus housing is not guaranteed at this time.
The ASP&E team will ask you for your housing preferences shortly after acceptance into the program. This information is then shared with our partners in the Housing Office. They will make assignments based on preferences and will contact you directly when you have been placed in a room and your contract is ready to be signed. Placement information is generally shared with students a few weeks prior to arrival. Although we will make every effort to honor your requests, placements will depend on space and availability.
What meal plan you have is dictated by what which type of housing you choose. For more information about housing and meal plans visit the MSU housing page.
Students who choose to live in an undergraduate hall on campus are automatically signed up for a silver dining plan. This plan allows for unlimited meals each day that the cafeterias are open for business during the semester you are signed up for the plan.
The Owen dining plan is more limited and will likely not cover meals for the whole semester. Many students living in Owen hall choose to eat out more or accept that they need to purchase additional meals toward the end of the semester. For questions about the Owen dining plan, please e-mail or .

Students who live in the on campus residence halls are automatically enrolled in a dining plan plan for their time at MSU. There are simply not enough cooking facilities available for students to cook all of their own meals. In addition, many students are very busy with classwork, on campus activities and other cultural exploration that they are thankful to not have to worry about grocery shopping and cooking their meals.
The dining halls on campus offer a wide variety of food options and can accommodate many dietary needs. Students who would like to talk about their specific needs may contact the Eat at State Team.
